Châteaux en fêtes – Visite du Château de Château-l’Evêque

Château-l'Evêque opens its doors for "Châteaux en fêtes"!

Guided tour by the owner, every day except Wednesday, at 3pm and 5pm (reservation required by phone: 06 21 55 23 06).

The history of Château-l'Evêque has been intertwined with that of Périgord since the 10th century. The present-day Château was built in 1347 by Adhémar de Neuville, Bishop of Périgueux, to close the North Gate of Périgueux during the Hundred Years' War. At that time, the Château consisted of two fortresses. Burnt down and partly destroyed during the war, it rose from the ashes like a Phoenix to become an example of Medieval and Renaissance architecture.
As a hotel in the 70s, it welcomed celebrities from Show Business and around the world. The château is now used as a bed & breakfast, and also hosts special events.
