What is a “fanal”?
The new tourist office has set up shop in a former railway station, so what better name for this place than an object associated with its history: the fanal.
This lantern, placed at the front of the locomotive or at the rear of the last carriage of a train, served as a landmark or signal in the night.
Like the lantern, the tourist office serves as a landmark for visitors: like a lighthouse, it guides them around the area.
